PaperHanger is a
utility designed to run under Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT
4.0,
Windows 2000, Windows XP, or Windows Vista. PaperHanger Version 2.02 was named Shareware Pick of the Week for the week of
February 8, 1998 on the WUGNET Windows 95 forum of CompuServe.
As normally used, the PaperHanger icon sits on the task bar. It is then available for changing wallpaper, or for reconfiguring PaperHanger.
There are many different ways to run PaperHanger. It may be set to run when Windows starts, change wallpaper and exit, run when Windows starts, change wallpaper and remain on the task bar, run when Windows starts, do not change wallpaper, but remain on the task bar. It also can be configured to change wallpaper every X minutes while it is on the taskbar. X can be any amount from 1 to 120 minutes.
PaperHanger also provides a quick way to select and load specific wallpaper faster than the screen properties settings page.
In addition, PaperHanger provides a fast, easy way to toggle your screensaver off or on. It also allows you to control the tile or centering property of wallpaper without going into the Display Properties setup screen.
PaperHanger features support for Internet Explorer 4.0's Active Desktop.
Version 4.02 has a host of new features and improvements, including the ability to display thumbnails in the Load List, and the ability to view any wallpaper full-size in a pop-up window. IMPORTANT: It is unlikely that PaperHanger 4.02 will run on Windows versions older than Windows 2000. For older versions, please get PaperHanger version 3.09 below.
Version 3.09 fixes some incompatibilities that might occur when used with Windows XP, and improves wallpaper displaying of tiled and centered non-.bmp wallpaper. For anyone still running Windows 95-98-Me, click here or on the link below to download the 3.09 version.
